First Lady Dionna Johnson is a native of Detroit, MI and is the only child of Rev. Dr. Steven and LaRita Riley. Lady Johnson’s father serves as Senior Pastor of Christ Temple Baptist Church in Ypsilanti, MI. When she was not in Ypsilanti, she worshipped at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church of Detroit, MI under the legendary Rev. Dr. Frederick G. Sampson. Lady Johnson has deep roots in the Christian faith and began doing missionary work early in her childhood. She was fortunate to spend time traveling extensively throughout the Caribbean on mission trips, teaching and volunteering with young children.

Lady Johnson attended Tennessee State University (TSU) and was awarded a full scholarship for performing arts. She graduated from TSU with dual majors in both Mass Communications and Journalism. Lady Johnson is currently a student at Ashland Theological Seminary where she is pursuing her Master of Arts in Practical Theology.

Lady Johnson is a former MISS NAACP and she has also performed in theaters as an actress and singer. Lady Johnson is also a former print model with Wilhelmina Models NYC. Her life’s work has afforded her the opportunity to live in Nashville, TN; Boston, MA; Stamford, CT and New York, NY.

 

Lady Johnson considers herself “a daughter of the King”. She has always worked alongside her husband in ministry and has been very active and instrumental in various ministries. Including the GAP MINISTRIES and GAP CHOIR of the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where her husband gave leadership.

 

Lady Johnson is a very dynamic and prolific teacher of the gospel. She currently teaches Sunday School for adult, high school and middle school ages. She also taught the GAP MINISTRIES Virtual Bible Studies. Her ability to interpret the scriptures in a way that helps everyone to understand them has been a blessing to many. Her Godly influence and genuine love of people has always been the core of who she is, and she continues that in her current role as our First Lady.

 

Lady Johnson, along with her husband believe in having a holistic ministry that praises God, equips the people of God and evangelizes the lost at any cost. She and her husband have 3 children; Taryn Simone, Terrence Landon and Calleigh Grace.
